Update on the Excavations at Carchemish posted by Henry B. Smith Jr. MA

A Turkish-Italian team is conducting the most extensive excavations there in nearly a century, building on the work of British Museum teams that included T.E. Lawrence, the adventurer known as Lawrence of Arabia. The plan is to open the site along the Euphrates river to tourists in late 2014.

Temple Found at Beth Shemesh posted by Henry B. Smith Jr. MA

A possible Israelite (?) temple has been discovered from the 11th century BC, the time of Samuel when the Philistines returned of the Ark to Beth-Shemesh, cf. 1 Samuel 1:6.
