Dr. Scott Stripling, Director of ABR's Excavations at Khirbet el-Maqatir, Israel, will be conducting excavations in Israel in December 2014. The purpose of the winter excavation at Khirbet el-Maqatir is to finish important projects that were not completed the previous summer. This winter we will be completing the excavation of a subterranean olive production facility and a mikveh (ritual immersion).
There will be ten dig days between December 17-31, and participants are invited to stay over until January 6th for wrap-up work and touring. All non-work days will involve some touring. The group will stay at The Mount Scopus Hotel (walking distance from the Old City) at an off-season negotiated rate of $42 per day (double-occupancy) which includes breakfast and lunch. Dinner is eaten out and averages $18. Each person will contribute $20 per day to cover his or her share of vehicle expenses. There are occasional entrance fees, laundry costs, spending money, etc. The average total cost per day is $90. Round Trip airfare averages $1000.
